Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Business, address, business size, list size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? 10 Best Email Marketing Software
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as name, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. 10 Best Email Marketing Software
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example most people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the kind style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see how your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much faster than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. 10 Best Email Marketing Software
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
