MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you are a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? 4Th Of July Email Marketing
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, as well as another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. 4Th Of July Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most people, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so it’s possible to find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. 4Th Of July Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of the tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It ends up, at around half of the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
