Intro Adobe Email Marketing
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Adobe Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical large players for the last decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this short article, I will be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Types of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your classes or segments.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Adobe Email Marketing
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as title, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Adobe Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see exactly how your readers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means it’s possible to find an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much faster than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Adobe Email Marketing
The Price of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at approximately half of the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
