Introduction Email Marketing Campaign Template
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Email Marketing Campaign Template
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the previous decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I will be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its own ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Types of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or segments.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Campaign Template
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, as well as another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as title, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Campaign Template
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your mails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Campaign Template
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It ends up, at approximately half of the Price of the competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options available on the market. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
