Intro Email Marketing List Reviews

MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email marketing has been Dominated by the same big players for the last ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, company size, list size and even the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing List Reviews
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Rules, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing List Reviews
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see how your readers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing List Reviews
The Price of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
