MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the last ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you’re a fantastic match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Management Company
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Rules, in addition to an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — which we will get into in a moment — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Management Company
If you are not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your emails in relation to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Management Company
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the few marketing tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
