Intro Email Marketing Panel
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Email Marketing Panel
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the previous ten years. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this short article, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can choose your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Panel
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Principles, as well as another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Panel
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, like moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Panel
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the industry. Plus, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
