Intro Email Marketing Partners
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Email Marketing Partners
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Partners
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Principles, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Partners
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see how your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Partners
The cost of MailerLite is among the tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half the Cost of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
