MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Sign-up Process
Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, record size and also the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
Annoying, sure.
But while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add different Types of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.

Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email advertising software now.
Why?
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Segmentation Strategies
Landing pages.
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great base to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see precisely how your readers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
Email Automation
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
Website tracking.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Segmentation Strategies

Pricing
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
Conclusion
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
