Background Email Marketing Seminars
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Email Marketing Seminars
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses today, email advertising has been Dominated by the same big players for the last decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Business, address, business size, list size and even the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Types of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Seminars
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — which we will get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as title, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Seminars
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much faster than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing Seminars
The Price of MailerLite is among the tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of this competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
