Intro Email Marketing Stats
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Email Marketing Stats
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the last decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So today, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it really stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, business size, list size and even the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Types of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Stats
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, in addition to another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — that we will get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers together according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Stats
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a great base to work from if, for example the majority of us, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing Stats
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among the tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at around half the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you are ready to pay annually, you can also get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
