Intro Email Marketing Training
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Email Marketing Training
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a good match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Training
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Training
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing Training
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half the Price of the competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
