Sign-up Process
Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you won’t be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
Annoying, certain.
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.

Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing software today.
Why?
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Things here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. How To Charge For Email Marketing
Landing pages.
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great base to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
Email Automation
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s important to highlight.
Site tracking.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. How To Charge For Email Marketing

Pricing
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at around half of the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
Conclusion
MailerLite is among those few marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
