Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email marketing program now.

And while many providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.

A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.

What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
