Intro Loyal Customer Club
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Loyal Customer Club
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the last decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, business size, list size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Loyal Customer Club
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email advertising software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Loyal Customer Club
If you are not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the kind style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your mails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What is email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much faster than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Loyal Customer Club
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options available on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Loyal Customer Club
