Intro Mailer Lite Lt
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Mailer Lite Lt
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same large players for the previous ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add different Types of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailer Lite Lt
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Mailer Lite Lt
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see precisely how your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailer Lite Lt
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the comments. Mailer Lite Lt
