Sign-up Process
Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Business, address, business size, list size and also the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
Annoying, sure.
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your classes or segments.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.

Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Why?
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Principles, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Things here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from new Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Address
Landing pages.
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your mails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
Email Automation
What is email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
Site tracking.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Address

Pricing
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of the competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
Conclusion
MailerLite is among the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
