Introduction Mailerlite Automation
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite Automation
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email marketing has been Dominated by the same large players for the last ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or segments.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Automation
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Automation
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to find an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you’ll probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Automation
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in recent years, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking of giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Automation
