Introduction Mailerlite Branding
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Mailerlite Branding
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the same big players for the previous decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Branding
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — which we will get into in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the form Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Branding
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most people, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see how your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, like moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Branding
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of those tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you can also get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the few email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent years, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailerlite Branding
