MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Custom Domain
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we will get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as name, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Things here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Custom Domain
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What is email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Custom Domain
The Price of MailerLite is one of those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at around half of the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the market. Plus, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get an even better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Custom Domain
