Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Double Opt In
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the form Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Double Opt In
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a great base to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted with your emails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available data more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Double Opt In
The Price of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the few email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
