If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite Embed Form
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses today, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical large players for the last decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include different Types of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Embed Form
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, in addition to another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Things here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Embed Form
If you are not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, like moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so you can get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Embed Form
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among the tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at around half of the Cost of the competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
