Sign-up Procedure
Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Business, address, business size, record size and even the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good match for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
Annoying, sure.
However, while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or segments.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.

Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email marketing software now.
Why?
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — that we will get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite EspañOl
Landing pages.
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
Email Automation
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, like transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much faster than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s important to highlight.
Site tracking.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite EspañOl

Pricing
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half the Cost of the competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you are willing to pay annually, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
Conclusion
MailerLite is one of those email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
