Introduction Mailerlite Gravity Forms
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Mailerlite Gravity Forms
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the last decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and also the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you are a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or segments.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Gravity Forms
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Principles, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as name, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Gravity Forms
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most of us, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email marketing with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, like moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Gravity Forms
The cost of MailerLite is one of those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half the Price of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailerlite Gravity Forms
