Like many online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the same large players for the last ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this review, I will be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, company size, list size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good match for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.

Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.

Notice how you can even combine Rules, as well as another rule when the first does not exist.

The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.

If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to future subscribers.

I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.

If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great base to work from if, like most people, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.

Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.

What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.

Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
