Introduction Mailerlite Issues
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Issues
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the last decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, record size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Issues
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Issues
If you are not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your mails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Issues
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options available on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
