Introduction Mailerlite Lead Ads
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Mailerlite Lead Ads
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical large players for the last ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I will be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its own ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Lead Ads
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a minute — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Lead Ads
If you are not impressed by what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like most of us, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so it’s possible to find an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Lead Ads
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
