When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite Popup WordPress
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email marketing has been Dominated by the same large players for the last ten years. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So today, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it really stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Popup WordPress
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Popup WordPress
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Popup WordPress
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the few marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
