Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and even the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you’re a good fit for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Questions
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Stuff here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Questions
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see how your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so it’s possible to find an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Questions
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of those tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of the competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options available on the market. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
