Sign-up Process
Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
Annoying, certain.
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your groups or segments.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Status

Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing program now.
Why?
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — that we will get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from new Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Status
Landing pages.
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great base to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
Email Automation
What is email marketing with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can find an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll likely find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s important to highlight.
Site tracking.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Status

Pricing
The Price of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at approximately half the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options available on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
Wrap-up
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailerlite Status
