Sign-up Procedure
Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
Annoying, sure.
However, while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
Campaigning
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your classes or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Subscriber Indexing

Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email marketing program today.
Why?
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — which we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Things here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Subscriber Indexing
Landing pages.
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.

Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
Email Automation
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can get an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
Site tracking.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Subscriber Indexing

Pricing
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options available on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
Summary
MailerLite is one of those few marketing tools The (very crowded) sector in recent years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
