Intro Miller Lite Logo
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Miller Lite Logo
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical big players for the last decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Miller Lite Logo
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Rules, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Miller Lite Logo
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Miller Lite Logo
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among the tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email marketing tools The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Miller Lite Logo
