Intro Prospect Email Marketing
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Prospect Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses today, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its own ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and also the kind of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Prospect Email Marketing
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, in addition to another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Prospect Email Marketing
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see exactly how your readers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email marketing without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll likely find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Prospect Email Marketing
The Price of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it is still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at around half the Cost of this competition generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options on the market. Plus, if you are ready to pay annually, you can also get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
