Introduction Push Email Marketing
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Push Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the previous ten years. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Push Email Marketing
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — which we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors collectively according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Push Email Marketing
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, like moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means it’s possible to find an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Push Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
