Intro Salesforce Email Marketing
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Salesforce Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the last ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this short article, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic match for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Types of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Salesforce Email Marketing
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Salesforce Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see how your readers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Salesforce Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among the tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay annually, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the few marketing tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Salesforce Email Marketing
