Introduction Trickle Email Marketing
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Trickle Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include different Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Trickle Email Marketing
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — which we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Things here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Trickle Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Trickle Email Marketing
The Price of MailerLite is one of the tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at around half of the Price of this competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
