Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Types of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Umbraco Email Marketing
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Umbraco Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see precisely how your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for each and every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to find an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Umbraco Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It ends up, at around half the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay annually, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Umbraco Email Marketing
