MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or segments.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Unsolicited Bulk Email Email Marketing
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as title, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Unsolicited Bulk Email Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a great base to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the kind style, fields, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form displays on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Unsolicited Bulk Email Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among the tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it’s still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of the competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
